Winter Wonderland

It's that time of year again...our warm days of late fall have turned cold and the rains have returned in full force. A few weeks ago we had our first big snow of the season. We typically get one or two good snow falls in late December or early January. This year's snow event was one of the best we've seen in the ten-plus years we've been here in the foothills above the Willamette Valley. Big fluffy white flakes came tumbling down for the better part of two days. The drifts piled up, the branches of the Douglas Fir pines became loaded with pillows of snow and for the next several days we were blanketed in a winter wonderland.
